Art of Darkness

Getting our dark on early in the day for my wife’s birthday! Enjoyed a nice gallery show focusing on Paranormal activity (some pieces based on activity in the gallery building), including a variety of styles and artists. (And free admission!)

Art of Darkness: Inspired by the Paranormal
Banfill-Locke Center for the Arts is located adjacent to Manomin Park along the Mississippi River. We followed up the show with a spontaneous rainy hike along the Mississippi. Check it out!

Mandala Sleeve

Building on the Mandala full sleeve – what started with one Mandala on the deltoid is evolving into a cohesive full sleeve, section by section! (Detail and shading yet to come!)

Black and Gray Coverup

Here’s a fresh spankin’ new custom coverup done in black and gray! Successful cover ups are all about flexibility with size, detail, textures and color. All of these elements work together to blend the old tattoo into the new tattoo. While color is typically necessary to nail a solid coverup, in this design the size, detail and texture came together beautifully to complete this black and gray geometric Mandala.

And my speakeasy neighbor comes above ground for one shining moment!

Check out the article in today’s Minneapolis Star Tribune!

“Volstead’s Emporium opened late last year in Minneapolis with no promotion, website or social media listing of its Lyn-Lake area address. Emblematic of the Prohibition era, guests must navigate a dark alley until they stumble upon a door with an eye-level slot, leading to the subterranean sanctuary of red velvet and chandeliers.”
