Celtic knotwork and lettering

We just finished reworking Allison’s Celtic tattoo. It’s amazing what reworking lettering and adding Celtic knotwork does to bring the design together! One more reason custom tattoos rock!

Molecular Tattooing

Sometimes it can be hard to choose just one when you have a few different ideas going. And sometimes different ideas just don’t jive well… But then again sometimes they do!

Kathy came in and had a couple of ideas – either a molecule, or a Celtic armband… Or maybe even both. So – oh yes we did! Super fun to put such a unique twist into the knot work!

This is what rocks about getting a custom tattoo!

Spent today designing a full custom tattoo sleeve for my buddy Eric, and we’re all set to get started tomorrow!
 Cannot. Wait.

And now that Eric’s design is set, my attention turns to beginning a portrait! Since I’m all wrapped up in designing, I’m posting a photo from the tattoo archives. This is my best pal Tara’s half sleeve. A fusion of Celtic, abstract, Gothic, black and gray with a *pop* of color – from concept art to finished product.

Old World Celtic

Here’s a tattoo flashback… Michael’s Celtic half sleeve honoring Brian Boru and Michael’s own piping! The weathered wood texture was a nice addition to this piece, giving it an old world feel.

Tattooing in reverse

Hey now, this was fun!

Tattooing in reverse, in a way. The original was about fifteen years old and super tight on detail. The lines closed together and the tattoo fuzzed out.

Today was phase one of bringing it back to life!
