Skull texture

In progress… The texture in this skull, cross bones and rosary works well to cover the old black tribal tattoo beneath. Next time we’ll add color highlights to provide contrast and – SNAP, cover up!

Black silhouette

Fresh ink! Just finished Scott’s new tattoo! Gotta love the striking silhouette, a dynamic use of black work in the medium of tattooing. Simple and beautiful.

Tahitian Half Sleeve

Riley traveled from Rhode Island to Minneapolis to add on to the Tahitian tattoo we started last year. His tattoo design is a twelve year timeline telling the narrative of his life. This is what custom tattoos are all about – the narratives of our lives. Great work, Riley! And fabulous to see you, as always.

Dala Horse

We just finished Amanda’s Dala horse, honoring her Grandmother. Amanda wanted black and gray, but she also wanted some color. I think the juxtaposition of the simplicity of the horse with the detail of the color gives this custom tattoo a *snap*

Spent today designing a full custom tattoo sleeve for my buddy Eric, and we’re all set to get started tomorrow!
 Cannot. Wait.

And now that Eric’s design is set, my attention turns to beginning a portrait! Since I’m all wrapped up in designing, I’m posting a photo from the tattoo archives. This is my best pal Tara’s half sleeve. A fusion of Celtic, abstract, Gothic, black and gray with a *pop* of color – from concept art to finished product.

Watercolor Cherry Blossoms

This watercolor cherry blossom and wave piece was a blast! A style that I’m seeing more and more people seek in their tattoos, translating the style and feel of a painting into the medium of tattooing. In this piece I love the juxtaposition of straight up color with black and gray.

Anchors Away!

I love it when an artist tells someone that a coverup just can’t be done. Because… Oh Yes It Can! Boom.

Phase one of Nick’s new back piece!

Tahitian inspiration

So great to see Riley, who flew in from Rhode Island for this awesome Tahitian inspired piece! Tell the TSA to pat that shoulder gently!
